I was recently asked by a customer if I could repair laptops. I replied that I do some repair from time to time but I do not advertise the service and do not keep replacement parts on hand. He proceeded to show me his daughter's laptop that for which the screen had been broken for a couple years now and was now sitting in a closet. The laptop was not the latest and greatest but was worth saving rather than buying a new one. After getting a quote from Dell for the replacement LCD, the customer confirmed that he was ok with buying the part and paying me for the installation. The installation process is not the most complicated but if you've never done one, it's easy for something to go wrong or for little parts to break. I was able to find a very nice service manual on Dell's website that walked me through the disassembly process. The LCD was the correct part and it went in without issues. I could have save a few bucks by scouring the internet for an aftermarket LCD...

I repaired an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 4S today for 2 Langley customers. The iPhone 5 was not in a terrible shape but the small crack was enough to make you want to repair it. The 4S on the other hand only needed a new back glass but this one needed emergency care. I performed both repairs in just a few minutes. Here are pictures of both phones.

Just completed an iPhone 4S screen repair for a Mission resident. She looked terrified when I started taking it apart but warmed up when it started coming back together. She was very happy with the repair.  Her phone was in an OtterBox when she dropped it but case was not able to prevent the screen from breaking. Here is a photo before the repair.

I helped a Mission resident with their iPhone 4 that had a sticky home button.  I picked it up from their house this morning and will be returning it this afternoon. I usually like to perform the repair on front of the customer but I also offer pickup and drop off service.

Here is an iPhone 4S that was repaired tonight for a customer in Mission. The phone was unfortunately broken while the customer was on vacation in Mexico and as you can see from the image below, he was unable to use his phone for the rest of his trip. Just completed the repair of an iPhone 5 power / sleep button for an Abbotsford customer. Apple was asking upwards of $300 to replace his phone due to the warranty being expired. We met at Starbucks and in about 1 hour the faulty ribbon for the button was replaced with a new one.  Here is a picture of the part that was taken out. 

I just finished replacing the back on an iPhone 4 for a Mission customer. I was here earlier this week for the same repair on their daugter's phone but parents also break their phones...

Just finished an extensive repair on an iPhone 5 for a repeat customer. His son's  phone had a broken screen, the power button was no longer working and the volume down button didn't work either.  The phone had to be completely stripped to get at the ribbon on which the 2 buttons are. Thankfully, with just the right amount of patience I pulled it off without a glitch. I did notice that the phone appeared to have sustain water damage and propably cauaed the buttons to stop working.  Here are a couple of photos of the phone before and after...

I repaired an iPad mini for a couple from Vancouver Island today. They were visiting the area and happen to break the iPad while in Abbotsford. A quick Google search for IPad repair near Abbotsford and they found Fraser Valley iPhone Repair. As they explained over the phone, they had to get the repair done today as they were heading back out to the Island In the morning.  I had the part on hand so I aggrieved to get it done right away.  Here is a look at the iPad Mini before I started working on it... I replaced the screen on an iPhone for a customer in Mission tonight. As we were talking while I was replacing the glass on her daugter's iphone 4, the client mentioned how the Wifi and Bluetooth was no longer working after updating to iOS 7, the setting for both of the features were greed out.  I have had very good success repairing the issue on iPhone 4S. Every one of them have functioned after doing a simple trick of heating up the motherboard where the wifi chip is located. I offered to the customer to look at the 4S once I was done with the iphone 4 screen replacement and within 15-20 minutes the problem was solved. I had a young customer call me in a panic tonight after her phone landed face first on the concrete. The phone was a week old, she just had her previous one replaced by Apple last week over a warranty issue.  I tried to push the appointment back to tomorrow or Friday but she needed it done tonight. She agreed to come to Mission from Maple Ridge to get it done.  We met at Tim Hortons and within an hour of her phone call, the phone was fixed!

Just completed an iPad 4 Screen replacement for a White Rock customer. The iPad had fallen off the roof of his truck and ended up being driven over by a car. The glass was shattered but thanks to his case the LCD was saved and the back casing only had minor damage. Here are the before and after shots...

I had a young customer contact me last week looking to get his iPhone 5 screen replaced. I quoted him my current pricing and he thank me for my time and suggested that he would shop around. I heard back from him a couple of days later saying that after looking around and talking to a few other iPhone repairman, he would get me to do it.  I visited his home tonight in Abbotsford to perform the repair. After helping a customer with 2 of his iPhone 4S today where both of the iphones had a broken screen and one of them the wifi setting was greyed out, the customer proceeded to ask if I could also repair laptops.  His MacBook Pro had a broken screen. I do not stock the parts but will order it for him and install it once I receive it.  Here is a look at the screen at the moment. I repaired the iPad Mini for a Chilliwack customer last night. The customer came and met me in Abbotsford to drop it off. I performed the repair last night and will be returning it today.  As much as I like to offer "before your eyes repair service", it is a delicate and time consuming process to repair the iPads and like to offer next day service.  Drop it off today and get it back tomorrow. Replaced the screen on an iPhone 4S tonight. The owner was from Chilliwack and agreed to meet me at the Whatcom Road exit in Abbotsford so that we can take care of it.  Here is a picture on the iphone prior to the repair.

I repaired a. IPad 2 yesterday for a Maple Ridge customer and when I pick it up, they asked me to also look at another one that would not turn on anymore.  I asked about why they believe it no longer turned on and they suggested that it might have gotten wet. I was hopping to repair it but after opening it. I figured there was not hope.  From the pictures below, you can see how it got wet but it also looks like the it was salt water or the battery leaked. I'm not sure what the white residue is but it looks like this one is toast. 

Just finished the repair of an iPad Mini. The device was traveling 100km/h when it's owner got into a motorcycle accident. The owner was ok but the iPad was not that lucky. The glass was smashed and the corners hit the pavement pretty hard. I had to grind down 3 of the 4 corner to allow for the new glass to sit in properly.   

Just sitting at Tim Hortons on Sumas way in Abbotsford repairing iPhones this morning.  My first one was a 4S with a broken screen for an Abbotsford drummer. His band is going on Tour tomorrow and needed his phone fix ASAP.  The second one was a back glass I replaced for the Daugter of a retuning customer from Aldergrove. I had repaired his phone 2 years ago.  My third one was the main speaker on an iPhone 4S for a Hope resident. This is my second faulty speaker on a 4S this week. The speaker had just stopped working.  My 4th one, was for a couple from Chilliwack where one of their iPhone was acting up a bit. The power button was not working, one of the microphones was not working when recording video or when the phone was on speakerphone. My over-the-phone diagnostic was a faulty power button ribbon and I was almost right. The ribbon had gotten loose and was no longer connected to the motherboard. Probably after being dropped one too many times. I reconnected it and...

Just completed an iPhone 4 screen repair in Maple Ridge. This is my second customer this month who broke their phone inside an OtterBox. Too bad for them OtterBox will not warranty the cost of the repair. 

Just completed my 3rd repair this evening.  The first phone I had to repair was in Abbotsford. I met the iphone owner at the Seven Oaks Shopping Center to replace a temperamental home button and an aging battery on his iphone 4.  After the repair was completed I headed into Mission to replace the charging dock on an iPhone 4. The dock connector was physically broken and would no longer take a charge. The dock connector was quickly replaced and the phone was again taking a charge.  My last repair was just 1 5 minutes  outside of mission in an area called Hatzik. The iPhone 4S had a smashed screen (see image below) and was starting to loose glass pieces. I installed a new screen for the owner, he was very happy as his only other option was Telus or Apple asking $200. 

Repaired a White iPhone 4S this morning after it's owner dropped it off of his 2nd floor balcony. The front and back were both shattered but as it is most often the case, bothing else was wrong with the phone. Here is a picture before the repair:

Just help a friend of my boss to unlock his brand new Lumia 520. The phone was purchased from Telus for only $120 (Cheap... Cheap!!) I spent $15 on an unlocking code from cellunlocker.net and used the Rogers SIM card from a co-worker's iPhone (thanks Rox) to get it done.  Result is an unlock Windows 8 phone for $120 plus $15 unlocking code, no contract and it can be used work wide now...

Just finished repairing an iPad 2 for a Maple Ridge Customer. The had sustained a couple of drops which resulted in 2 of the corners being damaged as well as the screen being broken. The owner used it for a while after the first drop but after the second drop, pieces of the screen started falling out.  I don't find to fix iPads on front of customers even though they are time consuming but when the corners have dents in them, I'm better equipped to do it at home.  I could not get a clear shot of the before but here is the after shot!

With the iphone glass being one of the common repair I perform, it is certainly not the only service I offer. I often get ask if I can repair sound related issue.  Either be one of the 2 speakers (ear speaker or the main speakerphone) or the microphone.  Tonight is replaced the main speaker on an iPhone 4. The speaker was no longer making any sound at all...  Yesterday I help someone else with their iPhone 4S which had an ear speaker that the sound was just not loud enough.  In both these cases, replacing the speakers solved the problem.  Below is a picture of the typical screen repair.
